Report of Regular Meeting May 2003
Chisato Koriyama, Secretary
The regular meeting in May is YMCA service night. In various international cooperation activities of the Tokyo YMCA, we cooperated with the sending of camp leaders to various countries. This year, the Yamate center hosts the most of these activites. Therefore, we presented Mr. Shinobu Ii, manager of the Yamate center, with 500,000 yen for the sending of leaders to Frost Valley and Hawaii island and the scholarship to Bangladesh students studying in Japan.
After the words of appreciation, Mr. Ii reported: "We are recruiting children from the 4th grade of elementary school to high school student for the camp in Frost Valley from August 9th. We send 10 leaders (6 from Tokyo) to Frost Valley. On Hawaii island, the camp program starts from August 4th; then high school student leaders visite Japan from there.
The international service center in Kanda are abolished and the Yamate center manages the activity for Bangladesh.
[Mr. Yoraku San'yutei]
Ms. Hasegawa attended after a long time. After the pleasant dinner, Mr. Yoraku San'yutei, rakugo (amusing story) teller, appeared on the instant stage with the theme music of appearance. He talked about "the world of rakugo". He caught the atmosphere of meeting place skillfully. He announced many amusing short short stories one after another. The Y's men and Y's menettes, who are usually serious, continued a smile, a loud laugh and a roar of laughter. He disclosed the inner situation of Enraku family. We were extremely satisfied with his guest speech.
The excellent cooperation between Mr. Matsuda and Mr. Takahashi livened the auction after a long time.
We are in the end of this term. I distributed a club award point table to each member. I will collect it in the regular meeting in June.
The closing chime of the President Sato finished the meeting safely. The Y's men and Y's menettes, whose reverberation had not cooled, left for the continuation of the party with Mr. Yoraku San'yutei.
