Report of Regular Meeting October 2003

The first regular meeting in the Bachelor's Hall began with the opening chime ofthe President, Mr. Tanaka; Mr. Ryozo Matsumoto presided it. Y's song, Y's principle, reading of the Bible and prayer of Mr. Nakatomi were done.
After the introduction of guests and visitors, the report from the business committees and the YMCA were done. Mr. Matsuda, chairman of EMC committee, reported the achievement of 100 % of percentages of attendance in the regular meeting of September. He received the clapping of all the attendants. Mr. Haga, manager of Tokyo YMCA, reported the request of the participation member entrusting from the Tokyo family court. The President, Mr. Tanaka, released that the Tokyo club recommend Mr. Ryozo Matsumoto as the DG elect of the Toshin District in the next period. Mr. Ryozo Matsumoto, chairman of CS-Wellness committee, requested the participation in the pre-walk to bring up the group leaders for the Edo Castle family walk.
After the dinner, Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary, Mr. Mochida introduced the leadership of Mr. Seishi Yamane, today's guest speaker, and the general power of the Yokohama YMCA. Mr. Yamane made the speech entitled "Kumamoto Band and YMCA". Before entering the main subject, he began at the story that he lost his birthplace in Shanghai where he lived until 1,5 years old; the general manager of Shanghai YMCA found it and guided him there. He told the life of Reiju Fukuda, who concerned the establishment of the Kyoto YMCA as the vice-president in 30 years old, from the student of 1st period of the Kumamoto English School to the first representative of trustees of the Kumamoto YMCA; Kogusu Yokoi and Ohira Yokoi, who were the source of the Kumamoto English school; the Kumamoto Medical School; the Kumamoto Western School which gathered the selection; the enthusiastic education and the agricultural popularity of its headmaster, Captain L. L. Janes; then, the 35 students signed the prospectus to honor their religion; the persecution that it was known; the discharge of Janes; the closure of the Kumamoto Western School; the students, who lost a suitable course to take, transferred registration to Doshisha; they became called the Kumamoto band; they produced YMCA in various cities: Hiromichi Kozaki established the Tokyo YMCA; Tsuneteru Miyagawa Osaka YMCA; Tasuke Hara and Matsuo Okada the Kobe YMCA; they have a common point: they have the posture to practice what they have learned specifically for the society and the people.
Next, there were member short speechs out of the schedule. Mr. Shoji talked about the operation of the cancer and the elapse. Mr. Yamanaka knew in the make-up for 100 % of achievement of the percentage of attendance that the Nagoya YMCA support the Chinese students studying abroad; the state of the regular meeting of the Kyoto Tops Club; he heard the general manager of the Shanghai YMCA tell that Shanghai, Kyoto and Paris were established getting support from USA at the same time; they are brother YMCA. We sang the song of YMCA and the closing chime of the President Mr. Tanaka closed the meeting.
