The starting chime of the President, Mr. Tanaka began the Youth Activity Night, presided by Mr. Matsuda; in one corner of the meeting place, the menettes arranged a lot of wonderful food which they prepared and gathered.
After Y's song, Y's principle, reading of the Bible and prayer of Mr. Hirota, introduction of guests and visitors, report of each business committee and the YMCA, Mr. Kuroiwa, chairman of the Club Service Commitee explained the "Auction of books" to do today in the first time. Mr. Ryozo Matsumoto, chairman of the CS-Wellnes Commitee appealed about the "Edo Castle Family Walk". Mr. Tsujimura, member of IBC Commitee reported on the welcome meeting of Mr. and Ms. Inoue of the Hilo Club and informed of the Convention of the Hawaii Area. Mr. Hosokawa, secretary informed of the regular meeting in December. Mr. Haga, manager of the Tokyo YMCA informed of the inaugural of Mr. Arai, new general manager.
Next, Ms. Tanaka, President of the Tokyo Menettes Club explained the today's food. We eat dinner friendly, served the foods by ourselves. After the Happy Birthday and the Happy Anniversary, the Frost Valley camp leaders reported their activities very concretely and pleasantly, showing a drama of one day of camp, with the word of thanks to the Tokyo club.
Next, the guest speech: Mr. Ryozo Matsumoto introduced Mr. Hiroki Matsuo, member of the space development committee of the Ministry of Education and Science. After that, the speech entitled "digressions about the space development" started.
He told big mouvements of the space development. He concerned from the beginning. He graduated from the astronautics department of the Tokyo University in 1962. After that, he entered the laboratory of Doctor Hideo Itokawa before the period of launching artificial satellites. He, assistant, pressed the discharging button of Osumi, first artificial satellite in Japan in 1970. Then, the persons, who were in the first front then, faded out at present. Also, three organizations of the space development were integrated into JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) from October 1st.
Next, digressions started. He told very interesting stories about various subjects: the weight of the artificial satellite is 100th of the weight of the whole rocket; the artificial satellite is extremely sensitive to the weight; the space development, the atomic energy and the electricity; what the fixed satellite ( the broadcasting, the weather, the communication ) and the scientific satellite, which are most used in the space, aim at; the necessity of the frontier spirit and the contemplation; the reliability of the manned satellite; the environment problem at the space: the possibility of the crash with the garbage; the crash with the asteroid. We had a time when we thought to the space.
Next, the smile fine. (We put the Bangladesh fund on the reception when leaving.) Mr. Hirota moderated the auction speedy and pleasantly; we excited. We sang the song of YMCA last. The President, Mr. Tanaka stated the closing words in which he expects that the leaders sign up for the Tokyo club in future. The chime closed the meeting.
