Report of Regular Meeting March 2004
Fukuko Yoshioka
First, all the members sacrificed a silent prayer to show the mind of lamentation to Ms. Kawata who was called to the heaven on February 18th. After that, the regular meeting was started, presided flexibly by Ms. Uehara, on the opening chime of Ms. Tanaka, President of the Tokyo Y's Menettes Club. Ms. Koriyama read the Bible and prayed. Ms. Tanaka introduced the guests and the visitors. Ms. Shoko Fujii, chairman of the Y's Menettes Committee of the Japan-East Region, who was absent, sent us nice arranged flowers, which made the meeting place brilliant.
Next, reports of the committees. The CS Committee thanked us for many contribution. The Club Service Committee announced the auction of April. The IBC Committee invited us to associate with our DBC, Kyoto Capital Club in Kyoto. The EMC Committee requested us to invite our friends to the regular meeting of April. We were appealed to participate in the Regional Convention of the Japan-East Region and the International Convention. After that, Ms. Tanaka handed to Mr. Haga, secretary of the Tokyo YMCA, the Least Coin Fund of the Tokyo Y's Menettes Club, which was collected for one year for the International Cooperation Fund. And she reported that we presented the profit of the mini-bazaar to Keimei School and Asian Rural Institute this year.
Then, we had dinner. The rice cake rolled of cherry leaf made by Ms. Tsuyuzaki added a gaiety to it. When Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary were done, we knew that Ms. Nanami Inada, our guest speaker, was marryed just now on March 3rd. We blessed her. After that, the speech of Ms. Inada who worked as youth intern in the International Headquarters of Y's Men's Clubs in Geneva. She had the motive to work there when she wanted to work abroad and contribute to the international community. When she traveled in Egypt and Turkey, she saw the miserable state where the children must work weaving; she thought them pitiabe and she weeped. However, they smiled to her and she wanted to return this smile to them. The languages troubled her most because 5 youth interns who worked in IHQ were an Uruguayan, a Scottish, a Malaysian, a Swede and a Japanese. Her work were preparation and planning of the youth convocation; editing of the magazine "Youth World"; information on youth; reception of the members of International Parliament in Mid-Year Meeting. When she was accompanied to events or conferences, local Y's men treated her like their grandchild. During the term of youth intern of one year, she had various discoveries which crossed cultures. Now she feels no wonder whatever breaks out. She had very good experiences. We heard a very interesting story.
After that, our guest Ms. Michiko Hayashi, chairman of the next term of the Y's Menettes Committee of the Japan-East Region, requested our cooperation. The Y's menettes of the Tokyo Green Club invited us to their menettes night. The Smile Fund and the Bungladesh Fund. We sang the "Menettes' Desire" with the accompaniment of organ by Ms. Tanaka. The closing chime closed the menettes night safely.
We won sales of 24,900 yen in the mini-bazaar which was done before the regular meeting. I appreciate your cooperation.
