Report of Regular Meeting July 2004

The first regular meeting of this year began with the opening chime of the new President Mr. Yamamoto. The meeting was suitable for the start of new year: Mr. Ito, DG of the Toshin District, visited us officially; Mr. Fujii, RD of the Japan-East Region, and the executives of our district and our region attended. The inheritance ceremony of executive was done, presided by Mr. Kazuo Sato, Inspector of the Tokyo Club, observed by the RD of the Japan-East Region, the DG of the Toshin District and Mr. Tsujimura, Inspector of the Tokyo Club. The old executives inherited their badge to the new executives. The Past-President Mr. Tanaka greeted and thanked. The President Mr. Yamamoto stated his plan of new year.
The DG, Mr. Ikuo Ito greeted for the official visit. As the DG of this term, he told his plan with zest. He wants to establish a new club in Niigata and a new international club which contains Korean residents in Japan.
Next, Mr Hirotoshi Fujii, RD of the Japan-East Region emphasized: let's support the YMCA more powerfully under his subject "let's do living pleasure in the fruit sense". He wants each club to support the secretary of YMCA who takes charge of its club. Also, the reinforcement of EMC is urgent business. It needs the fullness of the club regular meeting. He encouraged us: be not content with our tradition and try the activation of our club.

The guest speech: Mr. Kohei Yamada, who was installed in the Secretary General of the Japanese YMCA Union this year in April, made a speech entitled "the YMCA and the Y's Men movement". He stated according to his wide experience which he got in Baltimore YMCA, Tokyo and Tochigi. (1)The YMCA needs a program which prompts the youngsters to take part in it. (2)The business of YMCA needs a posture to pursue the public interest. (3)The business of YMCA needs a contribution and a friendship in the international field; it is important to build an international network. And he told his vision: for the Y's Men movement, it is important to try a plan and an event which gives a chance to the young men feeling a tide of the time. We were greatly enlightened.
As birthday gift, Ms. Shoko Fujii, ASD of Menettes of Asia Area, presented a pretty bouquet to all the attendants who were born in July.
