Appeal February 2005: Let's practice the fraternity

Akira Takahashi, Treasurer, member of the CS Committee
February is the CS-TOF emphasis month. In the Evangel by Matthew 22.34-40, Jesus state the most important regulations: the primary lesson is to love God; the second lesson is the fraternity: to love neighbors like us. These two regulations are based on the whole torah and the prophet. This second lesson is Jesus' original teaching of the love. Now, we have the opportunity to practice it in our daily life.
CS(community service) is the service activity to participate in the CS business of the region; and to respond to the seeking of the local community cooperating with the YMCA. CS means the "neighbor service".
TOF and family fast is to omit one meal to understand the people who suffer from the hunger in the world and to sacrifice it for them. It is the starting point of the Y's Men's Clubs whose motto is to love neighbors like us. The donation in this year is used to support the expansion of the education program for occupation in the Gambia-Banjul YMCA; to support the hearing disabled person in Kenya; to support the repair of the Hungary YMCA hall; to support the HIV/AIDS victims in the Nepal YMCA; to support the technology education for young people in the Ecuador-Quito YMCA; to support the refugee staying arround the cities in the Costa Rica YMCA, etc. Family fast is to omit one meal in the family and sacrifice the same amount of money. I request your cooperation with the donation.
