After meals, Ms. Mihoko Tamamura, representative of the WFP Japan Office made a speech entitled "The Function of the United Nations which has reached the 60th anniversary -- I look forward to Youth in the world." Ms. Tamamura explained the activity of WFP, showing examples: the Sudan where she visited just recently; Banda Aceh in Indonesia where she has visited the support state against the tsunami disaster place. She said: "The civil war in the southern Sudan ended barely. They began to build houses in Rumbek. They began a school lunch. However, in the western Sudan, recently, the political situation anxiety strengthened. 80 % of the population became a domestic evacuee. 20 - 30 % of the children lack extremely the nutrition. We are urgent aiding of food. On the other hand, in Banda Aceh, 4 months have passed yet since the tsunami, the restoration isn't moving ahead. Because the rice paddy was committed by salt water, they can not do agriculture. Millions of people become a domestic refugee. The WFP supports their revival, cooperating with the various United Nations organizations. It is a terrible work, but I am satisfied with it.
Today, I meet a lot of young people. If there are persons who want to work in the United Nations in future, you should take care of this feeling. There is one way: you can begin in the Japanese office of any organization of the United Nations which have an internship system. Or it is important to come out and to load the real world with the experiencing of work." Next, several Youth asked enthusiastically. Ms. Tamamura answered politely about the policy in future, etc. We sacrificed the Bangladesh Fund and the Smile Fine. We chanted the song of the YMCA. The closing chime of the President closed the meeting.
