Appeal February 2006: The Hunger whose seriousness is increasing in the world

To recognize the people who suffer from the hunger in the world, the Tokyo Club doesn't take the meal in the regular meeting of February. We send its amount of money to the IHQ to sacrifice it to the support goal which is specified in each year. It is the principle of the TOF(Time Of Fast). Unexpectedly, the first movement was born about 30 years before. The Y's men who recognized that the hunger problem is serious started a decision: the YMCA which is struggling in the developing country applies for the provision through the World Alliance of YMCAs; the TOF committee deliberates it; the International Council decides a support place and a provision sum. This is a mechanism.
Except the meal of the regular meeting, the Toshin District created the "Donation Calendar". It suggests a donation according to the schedule. Its content is elaborate.
The hunger problem becomes more serious today than 30 years before. However living in Japan, it is difficult to recognize its actual state. Saying honestly, we don't know it well, me too.
I feel it incomplete that we make efforts only in February, TOF emphasis month, though we wouldn't know it.
I have a dream: we tackle a hunger problem all time in all the activities of the Y's mens clubs. But the actual condition doesn't permit us to dream only. February, we will notice it at least.
