Report of Regular Meeting January 2008

The members attended the first regular meeting in the new year with a new mind. Mr. Jiro Mochida presided it.
After opening chime of the President Mr. Nakamura, Y's song, and reading of the Bible and worship of Mr. Tsujimura, the President Mr. Nakamura introduced 5 guests. After Y's dinner, Mr. Matsumoto, Chairperson of the CS Committee, announced the TOF donation and voluntary donation. Mr. Tanaka, DG of the Toshin District, told the publication of the second bulletin and the forum of February. Ms. Okitsu, secretary in charge of the Tokyo YMCA, reported about the YMCA with appreciation for our cooperation to the "Open House" of the Tokyo YMCA.

[We heard the speech of Mr. Tachikawa around his airscape]

The guest speaker was Mr. Hakusho Tachikawa, painter of city map. Born in Osaka, afer the entrance to the Toho, he had charge of the art of tens pieces of movies. Since he opened his own office, he drew a lot of figures of the expectation of the completion such as the city development. He is known as charge of the perspective picture of Roppongi Hills. Speech title was "Airscape of Edo". We made a circle around the airscapes which he brought. He explained each area one after another: Toyocho, Tomioka-Hachiman Shrine, Kiba, Hamacho, bakurocho... with the provenance of town name. First, he sees the past survey map to confirm the landform. He takes photos walking in the area actually. He reproduces the view solidly linking the photos. It is complete via such a steady process to lose consciousness. He need 8000 pieces of photos and half year to draw one airscape. We admired the airscapes minutely pictured.
Ms. Sugimoto presided the auction. After Smile Fine, the guests told one phrase. The regular meeting was closed.
