Appeal February 2008: Consideration about TOF (Time of Fast)

This year too, the regular meeting of February is "TOF Night", same theme of the monthly emphasis of the Japan East Region.
What is the purpose of TOF? To recognize the people who suffer from the hunger in the world, we don't take the meal in the regular meeting of February. We send its amount of money to the IHQ to sacrifice it to the support goal which is specified in each year. The YMCAs who are struggling to improve the public welfare in the developing nation apply for its provision through the World Alliance of YMCAs. The evaluation and selection committee deliberates this application. The International Council decide the supported YMCAs and the sum of provision.
The use of this foundation 2007-2008 is: to Bulgaria YMCA for construction of the YMCA youth hall; to Sierral Leone YMCA (Africa) for project of agricultural development; to Togo YMCA (Ethiopian Republic) for project of HIV/AIDS edification; to Czech Republic YMCA for project of HIV/AIDS prevention, etc. 14 projects (8 continual and 6 new) are progressing. In those, we find many projects concerned with AIDS. In principle, new programs from 2005 to 2010 are furnished to the "STOP! HIV/AIDS" program. This fund payed 4,410,000 dollars from 1973 to 2007.
We find an alteration in the use of this fund. Please the regular meeting of February to recognize a meaning in the support for the poor people in the world through the YMCA in our community.
