Report of Regular Meeting May 2008

The regular meeting of May "EF JEF Night" was held, presided by Mr. Yoshioka. After opening chime of the President Mr. Nakamura, Y's song, reading of the Bible and devotion of Mr. Kenzo Sato, the President Mr. Nakamura introduced the guests and visitors. Then the initiation ceremony of Ms. Nobuko Otsuki was done solemnly under the observation of Mr. Tanaka, DG of the Toshin District, and Mr. Nishimura, DSD of MC of the Toshin District. Ms. Otsuki declared with the young and cheerful voice: "I enroll." After the ceremony, Mr. Shoji introduced her missing her father. She told her impression: "I was moved a little." I expect her future activities as a young hope.

Report of each committee: Mr. Yoshioka reported that the Tokyo Club received the Alf Reynolds (more than $25 as one member) and occupied the 7th international place. And the Tokyo Club received the Brother Hood Fund Top Ten 2006-2007 and occupied the 7th international place.
Mr. Nishimura, DSD of MC of the Toshin District did a speech admiring that the Tokyo Club got 3 new members. Ms. Okitsu, secretary charged of the Tokyo YMCA, requested a contribution for the damage by the cyclone in Myanmar and the earthquake in Sichuan of China.
Guest speech: "Education and Practice of the Volunteer Activity (GONGOVA) - Grass-root International Collaboration in the Mountain Village of Thailand" by Mr. Tatsuhiko Kawashima, professor of the Department of Economics of the Gakushuin University. He playes an active part as the person in charge of the overseas cooperation training program "GONGOVA" in the Gakushuin University (an NGO volunteer activity for the grass-root international collaboration in the developing countries ex. in mountain villages of a minority race in northwest mountains area of Thailand, etc.). He told his activity results, his experience on labor at the spot, a trial of the introduction of tropical apiculture, etc. and the meaning and value of the volunteer activity. I look forward to the growth of the students participating in the local mountain village under the guidance of Mr. Kawashima.
After the regular meeting, we moved the meeting place in WELL-B sequentially and a reception of Mr. Hatano who enrolled April and Ms. Otsuki was held magnificently.
